I wonder if another color wouldn't be easier? It's such a cool idea!
I think it was partially because it was an old rug and parts of it were dirtier than others. The dirty parts seems to repel the paint more than the cleaner parts.
It doesn't look that bad in the photo.
It definitely looks better at a distance :)
