Pray for Harvard

This past week we have booked out airline tickets to Abuja (through Germany) and set our packing dates! Now the fun of sorting everything we own into “piles” begins. We’ll have 4 shipments leave our home at different times. First there will be the HHG (household goods) shipment, which will go by boat and take about 3 months to get there. So those are the things we want in Africa, but can live without for three months. Then there is the consumables shipment, which is any familiar food or toiletries, especially liquids, that we want for the next year. Shopping for this shipment has made shopping for a month look like a walk in the park. Both of those get packed the 24th.
Next will be our UAB (unaccompanied baggage) which will head out about a week before we do and hopefully arrive a week or so after. That will be sheets and towels, toys and kitchen supplies. Finally, the storage shipment, which will be most of our furniture, will hopefully be packed and picked up the last week of June, our last week here.
In the midst of all of this sorting and buying we have had a house full of little girls this week for sleepovers and farewell parties. It has been such a blessing for my girls to their have friends here. It has been a blessing for me to remember in the midst of all of the crazy that the laughter and love of friendship is what is truly important. Choosing 220v appliances and deciding how much dish soap our family uses every year, all those details will work out and I will not let them take priority or give me an excuse to be unkind. It seems like an uphill battle sometimes, but grace always shows up and this week it has been in the the gift of these precious girls.
As you think of us please pray for our house. We are hoping to find out soon which housing area we will be in. One compound, Route 66, is big, with 60 or so town homes, without yards. It does have it’s benefits, but my heart is leaning towards the smaller compound, Harvard. It has 12 single family homes, with a community green area in the middle, a playground and from what I have heard a sweet community feeling. I know God will put us in the best place for us, but will you pray for Harvard?
