Touring DC

On Saturday we took the metro into DC for some sight seeing. I know that most of what we will see here will be way over the girls' heads, still I don't want to miss this opportunity. Jenna is a pro on the metro now. On our trip this time she quickly jumped out of her seat and grabbed on to a pole. It takes us about twice as long to get into DC when we ride the metro. It is a nice break for the girls though not to be tied down in car seats and it guarentees we won't be driving around looking for a parking spot. It is an exciting time in history to be in DC. Regardless of the results of the election it will be historical. Add to that the amazing weather we have been having and we are very happy to be here. Saturday the high was in the high 60's and the leaves were beautiful. We spent most of our time at the Natural History Museum. They have a great new aquatic wing open and a fun hands on room for the kids.
Jenna loves to play dress up so she was excited to find the costumes from around the world in the hands on room. I think you are supposed to try on a costume, play for a few minutes and then leave it at its station. But, she took off exploring in it and there were so few kids in the room I didn't think it would matter.
Sophie wasn't quite as thrilled with her Mexican poncho. She couldn't get the concept of raising her hands up under the material. She lasted about 20 seconds in her costume.
There is a carousel in the middle of the National Mall. As soon as the girls saw we knew we were in trouble. We promised them a ride all day and they were very patient to wait. By the end of the day we were all exhausted, but happy to have another DC experience checked off our list.
