Last week was Jenna's 4th birthday. We had had a couple of celebrations before the actual day, so when the day finally arrived and I told her it was her birthday she said, "My 5 birthday!" It does feel like when have been away from home a long time. :)
We were able to get a way for a few hours as a family. We took the girls to a great part and then went out to dinner at Red Robbin. She loved having some of the staff sing to her (she definitely gets that from her mommy and not her daddy). We ended the meal with a birthday chocolate shake.
The characteristics that we have seen in Jenna since she was little are still coming through. She likes things to be neat and orderly and has a hard time when plans change to quickly. She is developing a very compassionate heart, especially with Sophie and she is absolutely enamored with babies. She loves to help me in the kitchen and with other household chores. We got her a doll house for her birthday and I have been thrilled to watch her imagination continue to blossom. She is also very excited to start school (I will start home schooling her in the fall) and to take ballet lessons once we are back home. She is a happy healthy girl and we are blessed beyond words that God has entrusted her to us.
About a week before Jenna's birthday we were able to make it down to the Springs to celebrate with her two best friends. We went to Chuck E Cheese, for lack of a better option. The kids had a great time though and Sean and I were happy that she could have a party with her friends. We spent the weekend in the Springs with our friends, the Bryants. The Knapps came over the last night we were there and we played Settlers of Catan, just like old times. It was a wonderful weekend and a much needed break.
Uncle Mark was kind enough to drive us from Denver to the Springs. He stayed around for a part of the party and decorated Jenna's cake.

So sweet, I'm always so amazed at how different the girls look, but yet, you can just tell they are sisters. She is a doll, Happy Belated Birthday Jenna, We have Elizabeth's coming up too and she is very much looking forward to it and to use her Toys R Us card. Have you signed up for the Toys R Us birthday club? They send each child a birthday card and a $3 gift card toward anything, even a $3 item. My kids really look forward to this, they usually get a Littlest Pet Shop, something small.
Thanks so much for the "Thank you" message from Jenna. I love hearing her darling voice. I'd love to see pics of Uncle Mark's cake!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JENNA! Such a big girl!
